I have learned many things in the Theatre School – the most important one is that The Freedom Theatre is not just a theatre, it’s a stage that can create revolution. Theatre is my whole life now. It gives me hope, and dreams. On stage I can do anything. – Motaz Malhees
The Freedom Theatre Graduation and Juliano Memorial
After three years of study, practice and performance, our Theatre School students are ready to fly out into the world of theatre and performing arts.
Saber Shreim, Alaa Shehada, Motaz Malhees and Anas Arqawi will graduate on April 4th; a very symbolic day for The Freedom Theatre. Not only is it the anniversary of the invasion of Jenin Refugee Camp by the Israeli army in 2002; on April 4th, 2011, Juliano Mer Khamis, co-founder and general director of the theatre, was murdered. To this day the murder remains unsolved.
The graduating students belonged to the last group of students of Juliano, and their graduation ceremony is simultaneously a tribute to Juliano, his work and his legacy.
During the ceremony there will be a presentation of Ouda, a co-production with Theatre Hotel Courage. Read more here.
