Internationella uppropet och vädjan om en kurdisk representation på Genève 2 konferensen.  Uppropet och vädjan har skickats till respektive lands premiärminister alt. president och utrikesminister, inklusive Sverige.

International Appeal calling for Kurdish representation at the Geneva II conference on Syria, scheduled for 22 January 2013.

Honorable,

We support the peace efforts that have been launched to end the war in Syria which has been going on for almost three years, resulting in the deaths of thousands, displacement of millions and the demolition of the country. Towards this end, we hope that the Geneva II meeting that will be held on 22 January, 2014 will result in a peaceful and permanent solution.

All ethnic and religious communities of Syrian society must be included in a discussion on the future of their country. The Kurdish people amount to a significant proportion of Syria's population. The Kurdish people should be included in the new Syria on the basis of equal rights.

On 11th July, 2012, the Kurds unified. Under the name of the Kurdish Supreme Council, the Kurds are governing and defending their territories. The legitimate representative of the Kurds of Syria is the Kurdish Supreme Council. The Kurds want to take part in the Geneva II Conference under this name.

Dear

We believe that the Kurdish people should be represented by the Kurdish Supreme Council in an International conference of this magnitude in which the Kurdish people´s future will be directly affected.

In the past conferences on the future of the Kurds in which Kurds were not even invited were undertaken. The Kurds have very bad memories in this sense. The biggest example for this neglect is the Lausanne Conference of 1923 whose consequences have impacted the course of the past century, and are still having an effect today. Geneva II must not become a new Lausanne. We hope you will understand the sensitivities of the Kurdish people in this matter.

We hope that this appeal of support will encourage the international community to put the Kurdish issue and the Kurdish people of Syria on the table.

We thank you in advance for considering the rightful demands of the Kurdish people.

On behalf of the Kurdish Council in Sweden,

Eda Duzgun

Chairman Kurdish Council in Sweden

Eda Duzgun

International Appeal

We support the peace efforts initiated towards ending the war in Syria. This war has been going on for almost three years, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people, the displacement of millions more and the destruction of the country. To achieve an end to this conflict, we hope that the Geneva II Conference to be held on 22 January 2014 will result in a peaceful and permanent solution.

The Kurds in Syria have always declared their support for all such international efforts. The Kurdish people are struggling for the right to live freely with their own identity in a democratic Syria. The Kurds in Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) have neither succumbed to the persecutions and massacres by the regime or by those groups linked to Al-Qaeda. The Kurds want to live autonomously within a democratic, equal and just Syria alongside all its peoples and religious minorities of the country; Syria represents a multi-cultural, multi-faith and multi-ethnic reality.

We, the undersigned academics, politicians, human rights activists and scientists, believe that the Kurdish people should be represented at Geneva II by a delegation from the Kurdish Supreme Council. The Supreme Council was formed last year and is representative of all Kurdish parties and institutions.

We believe that the Kurdish people should be represented by the Kurdish High Council in an international conference of this significance where the Kurdish people´s future will be directly determined. Only then can Geneva II play its rightful role in securing the desired peace for all.
