The shortage of electricity and fuel in the Gaza Strip has become the worst in history. And 'a' siege energy "after the weight and the failure of all other sieges. This siege affected all areas' of life in Gaza and all citizens. The new program of electric energy supply is an alternation of 12 hours without - 8 with.
[bds-sweden] GAZA energy siege - URGENT- for press release
The problem may be summarized as follows:
- The fuel storage is ended in the Gaza power plant.
- No fuel is coming from Egypt (also not allowed by the galleries).
- No electricity from Israel and Egypt to compensate the lack of fuel for the power generators ad for public and private generators, Israeli requires payments while the authority in Ramallah has refused, passing to Hamas to seek raising funds from consumers in Gaza, which is at least difficult.
Ramallah-announced in a direct and indirect ways that will not pay for Hamas (nb. Ramallah for months took away a part of salary for the electricity (170 = almost NIS 35 million) by public employees. Now the authority has asked the government of Gaza to take the responsibility for collecting consumption bills by all consumers which, in their the majority, are not able to cover this expense monthly.
In the next hours will be turned off completely the only central that produces electricity in Gaza.
The Egyptians promised to increase the electricity sent to Gaza of 17-25 MW, while if our cental was operating we would need more than 100 MW and if the system is off, as will be, we need 180 MW. Also Egyptians are hindering or preventing the supply of fuel to power the central in Gaza.

Pratical notes:
The lack of electricity and fuel means not only being in the dark, not only enormous health problem for all the people involved with immediate or chronic needs of interventions (as infants at risk, the dialyzed, the infarctuated, those that need emergency surgery as cesarean, serious accident treatments etc), but also more diffusely the inability to obtain water in homes, to purify the water that is used for alimentary and drinking consumption, to wash clothes, dishes, and even home cooking gas, because will likely affect the already inadequate system of refill of cylinders for cooking ... well this it's almost worse, if it lasts for a few days or weeks of an armed attack.
This also adding to the fact that the large majority of the population cannot even flee for a day even if they wanted to send out the weakest, children or sick for lack of documents, visas, of where to go ...
I do not know how else to say that they are killing the people of Gaza, quietly and slowly. Denouncing and rising alert is now essential.
